Potehi Performance Masterclass with 柯世宏 Shih Hung Ko

Master Trainer 柯世宏 Shih Hung Ko is an award-winning Potehi master from Taiwan and a core member of the renowned Jinkweilo Puppet Troupe. He has received multiple performance awards and is frequently invited to perform and speak at festivals, universities, and symposiums across Asia, Europe, and the United States. Known for his expressive manipulation, musical sensitivity, and contemporary approach to tradition, Ken Ho is widely respected as a leading figure in modern Potehi performance.

Dates: 17 – 20 August 2026
Time: 9:00am – 6:00pm (8 hours daily)
Venue: PMT Treehouse – 90 Goodman Rd, Blk B #01-05, Singapore 439053
Capacity: Limited to 20 participants

The 4-day intensive workshop covers Potehi fundamentals, character movement, rhythm, coordination, and ensemble work. Participants will collaboratively prepare a short performance to be presented to 50 invited guests.

Fee Structure

TOTAL: $350 per participant
Workshop Fee: $250 per participant
Deposit Fee: $100 per participant
Attendance Incentive: Participants who complete all sessions (or meet eligible attendance criteria) we will return the $100 deposit fee.

Paper Monkey Theatre’s Masterclass 2026 is part of its ongoing commitment to preserve, deepen, and transmit traditional Asian puppetry practices through rigorous professional training. This year we are honoured to have full support from Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre. This immersive Potehi masterclass offers practitioners a rare opportunity to learn directly from a master puppeteer, engaging deeply with the form’s techniques, aesthetics, and performance philosophy. The programme culminates in a short showcase, allowing participants to apply their learning in a performative context.
