Theme for this year festival:
一盏百年茶香 A Legacy Steeped in Tea – A Tribute to 100 Years of Chinese Tea Merchant
Paper Monkey Theatre, in collaboration with Ombak Potehi from Penang, Malaysia, proudly presents一盏百年茶香A Legacy Steeped in Tea, a theatrical tribute to Pek Sin Choon, one of Singapore’s most cherished traditional tea merchants, celebrating a century of heritage and resilience in honour of SG60.
Through the timeless artistry of Chinese hand puppetry (potehi), audiences will journey through the hardships, challenges, and perseverance that shaped Pek Sin Choon’s remarkable 100-year legacy in the region. This modern presentation blends creative storytelling with the evocative charm of traditional opera singing and the soulful sounds of live Chinese musicians, weaving past and present into a seamless cultural tapestry.
Reminiscent of the days when puppetry enlivened tea houses, this intimate experience invites guests to 6 exclusive VIP tables of 4, complete with snacks and a live Chinese tea presentation, evoking the spirit of gathering, sharing, and storytelling over a pot of fragrant tea.
A celebration of tradition and innovation, 一盏百年茶香A Legacy Steeped in Tea honours the enduring spirit of a brand that continues to define Singapore’s cultural landscape.
